an envelope absolutely, positively has to be there overnight
an envelope absolutely, positively has to be there overnight.
An Eco-conscious attitude towards business was historically thought to be a mere gimmick or attempt to find a USP within a particular industry by centralising focus upon green awareness and sustainability. Times have however moved on and environmental credentials are no longer something to be overlooked, but by all accounts an absolutely essential aim of any business. Whether its for the somewhat scornful purpose of favourable PR, in order to cut overheads associated with waste, to adhere to increasingly stringent laws, for genuine ethical reasons -or most likely a combination of these and other aspects: ever growing numbers of businesses are positioning themselves firmly within the eco friendly camp.
Putting aside the in their own right important moral aspectsof an environmental minded business model, the benefits of green awareness are multitudinous and can have a marked impact upon a business's profit margins. It has been reported for instance that businesses in the UK squandered 120 million last year alone as a consequence of leaving their lights switched on. In fact, ignorant use of electrical equipment has a monumental impact on the energy bills (andconsequently their carbon footprint) for many organisations. Leaving a television on stand-by rather than turning it off at the socket or neglecting to fully turn off a laptop overnight are amongst a huge number of ways in which energy is squandered and all of these small incidents can result in a worryingly high level of energy wastage and inflated overheads. It is suprisingly easy to convert your working environment from a wasteful place into one which makes maximum use of resources and affects the environment as little as physically possible, some quick alterations can make a huge difference. Paper for example is found in many different forms around the office, and wasted consistently and pointlessley, from envelopes to copier paper, this vital material is squandered frequently and more often than not, consigned to a standard bin rather than one dedicated to paper recycling. From the outset, all offices should invest in recycled paper materials across the board, it is rarely more expensive than non-recycled paper and is of equivalent quality. In addition, this paper should be re-used where convenient for note taking, or as part of a scratch pad made from a collection of sheets of unwanted paper- and then when all use has been had, it can be recycled and the cycle begun once again.Maintaining office temperatures is also a major contributor to energy wastage in the work environment, and even the smallest of tweaks to the thermostat can result in more manageable bills and lower carbon emissions. In winter, merely reducing the temperature by 1 degree whilst in summer, raising the air conditioning operating temperature by one degree can have minimal impact on the office environment but an impressive impact on overheads. There are a great deal of ways in which a company can attune their operations better to handling green concerns and in doing so save a small fortune: it is all a matter of common sense and sustainable practice.
